Procedures for Registering a New Boys’ Brigade Company and Inauguration Service Checklist

PART A: Registration

  1. The proposed company will write a letter of intent for registration. It will include the introduction of the proposed chaplain and captain. This letter is to be written to the State Council (Office of the Secretary/Organizer) and the Lagos South Battalion Council.
  2. The proposed company will send representatives to attend the Lagos South Battalion Council Officers Meeting for introductions and familiarization.
  3. The proposed company must have at least 20 boys. It must also have 3 officers, including the proposed captain. A chaplain must be registered and in attendance at company meetings.
  4. The proposed company must have meeting/rehearsal days and must have done at least 5 consecutive meetings.
  5. Payment of Registration fees (65,000 naira to the state council)

  6. Fill out the registration forms, as shown in the appendix. Return them to the state council. Submit a photocopy to the battalion council.
  7. The battalion council will locate the church and conduct preliminary training for a few weeks. Company officers are encouraged to attend basic training courses.
  8. The battalion council will arrange for a date to visit the company and inspect the company.
  9. After the secretariat, training convener, or any other appointed officers complete their inspection, the battalion council will take action. Through the Secretary, they will recommend and sign onward to the state council. This is for approval and issuance of company registration certificates and for the inauguration/enrollment service.

PART B. Inauguration/Enrollment

  1. The date and time of the enrollment/dedication service will be fixed by the church authority.
  2. Notification of the proposed date to the Brigade Authorities (Battalion and State Council). Enrollment forms are attached below. They should be duly filled out and submitted for approval. This needs to be done at least two months before the proposed date.
  3. Uniform and Complete Accessories for all cadres of Members (Purchase accessories via https://paystack.shop/bb-shop)
  4. Fill the company statistics form for your Captain, Officer, patrons, and patronesses (see the appendix for for the link)
  5. The Order of Service and Enrollment Service Program Booklet (Sample as seen below) will be edited. The edits will suit the church liturgy. The State HQ must review it. Approval is required at least 1 full week before the inauguration.
  6. Payment of Battalion dues (5,000 naira yearly). Receipt of payment to be shared with the battalion treasurer.

PART C: Instruments for Enrollment Service

  1. Instruments for Enrollment Service:
    • Flags, (National & Company) – to be given by the State Council. (The company is expected to purchase 2 pikes for carrying the colours.)
    • Membership Cards for all new Boys (Purchase via https://paystack.shop/bb-shop)
    • Appointment Cards for all new Officers (Purchase via https://paystack.shop/bb-shop)
  2. Certificates of Inauguration, Investiture & Installation (To be purchased from the State Council)
    • Company registration Certificate
    • Chaplain’s Certificate
    • Captain’s Certificate
    • Patrons & Patronesses Certificates
    • Staff for Captain
